Matthew Harrison National number 1

Matthew Harrison Boys under 11 number 1 in National Rankings February 2015

Matthew began playing squash at age six and was soon playing regularly. His ability rapidly improved and he began competing in tournaments throughout the country.

Reaching the coveted number one ranking position is due to a culmination of high placed finishes in England Squash tournaments over the past two years. Travelling throughout the country at weekends and school holidays with his parents Neil and Jenette as well as his older brother Daniel, Matthew had the opportunity to pick up ranking points in each tournament he competed in. Due to his consistent performances, Matthew has now earned the most ranking points and as a result, sits aloft the national boys under 11 squash ranking list (see below).

This season has seen Matthew achieve a number of firsts. In January, he was part of the county under 13 boys team that made history when they became the first team from Cumbria to be crowned national Inter County Champions, in which Matthew won the deciding match in a season-long tournament held at Pontefract, this is a competition in which all of the counties in England and Wales compete. Matt is also the North-West regional champion age group Champion ( Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and Isle of Man). He is also Cumbria county age group Champion, and is the youngest ever player (junior) to reach League 1 in Windscale Squash Clubs internal leagues.
