Windscale B 17 Brampton B 4 - 2003

Mike Jenkins had to fight all the way to beat Graham Brownson 10-9 in the first game. Having done the hard work he won the next two games easily 9-4, 9-3 to register Scales first win of the evening.

Jim Irving battled well to win his opening game 9-5 then managed to lose the next game 1-9. Some words of wisdom from Dave Jackman doing the trick, Jim storming back to win the next two games 9-6, 9-4.

With two games in the bag Scales only needed one more win to secure the match.

For Scales, Dave 'Jacko' Jackman had what proved to be the hardest encounter of the evening going down in straight sets 5-9, 6-9, 7-9 to Bramptons Alan Coulthard.

Match points were then secured for Scales by young John Banks.  'Banksy' a product of the clubs youth policy, came out firing on all cylinders winning his first game against Bill Armstrong 9-0. Bill fought back gamely using his many years of experience in county league squash, but young Banksy was too strong, winning the next two games 9-7, 9-6.

Martin Blair secured the additional points for Scales with a workman like 9-4, 9-3, 9-3 win against Graham Coulthard.

This excellent result for Scales has set them up for the top of the table clash with Leisure Links in two weeks time. Links are currently the unbeaten league leaders, so a full strength Scales team is a must if they are to overhaul the leaders and take the title.
