WINDSCALE squash club's James Thompson and Nathanial Crichton were celebrating after becoming part of the only Cumbrian under-19 team to ever become Northern Counties champions.

The successful team defeated Lancashire 5-0, Merseyside 4-1 and, despite losing to Durham and Cleveland, the eventual runners up, 3-2, became Northern Counties Champions.

The team are hoping to successfully defend their title when the season re-starts later in the year.

James and Nathanial, who are busy completing A and AS level exams, along with the Carlisle trio of Paul Bell, Craig Winthrop and Daniel Caton, still have at least another year at this level and are looking to continue their winning habit.

Nathanial and James would like to thank their many coaches and mentors for supporting them and pushing them on, many thanks also to Cumbrian Properties for their sponsorship for this years event.
