Windscale B Vs Leisure Links

As predicted last week Links arrived at Egremont with a strong team and expected to get a result. The early season number one Bob Fowler was first on and now playing down the order at number four. The Windscales number four Paul Ditchburn was up to the task. ' Ditchy' asserted himself on the game staying focused throughout, and he got Windscales off to a perfect start winning 9-6, 9-5, 9-7.

Jim Irving extended that lead, beating Colin Shyles 9-6, 9-5, 9-3. This was a welcome return to form for Jim, who ran well and played a variety of shots that kept his opponent on the back foot for most of the game.

Mike Naylor then secured the points for Windscale beating Fiona Buglass 9-1, 9-2, 9-3. There were some disputed calls in this game but as the score indicates, those calls had no effect on the eventual outcome. This was Mike's sixth win out of six and he goes into the second half of the season unbeaten.

Willy Fearon was unable to stop the rot as Windscales Dave Jackman stormed home 9-6, 9-1, 9-2. ' Jacko' dominated from the off giving Willy no opportunity to get into the game. Lobs, drops, boasts, lengths, volleys, boasts, you name it 'Jacko' played it.

Securing the unexpected 'whitewash', young John Banks ended his first half of the season on a high. Winning the first two games 10-8, 9-6, he then took a breather in the third that enabled Ian Graham to take the next 9-6. Refreshed and full of bounce 'Banksy' won the final game of the evening 9-3.

First match after the Christmas break Windscale travel to Moota the team that beat them 3-2 in the early part of the season. Watch this space.
