Windscale v Keswick

After suffering two 5-0 defeats at the hands of Brampton and Dalton in their last two outings Windscale B needed a good result at Keswick to bring their League title aspiration back on track.

Mike Naylor, of late playing well below par, gave a more characteristic performance beating Keswick's John Kadak 9-3, 9-5, 9-0. Controlling the 'T', Mike showed that when he put's his mind to it he can still produce the good's.

Paul Ditchburn took 4 games to beat Mike Felton 9-5, 9-3, 6-9, 9-5. Dropping the third game was probably due to over confidence, but this result was never in doubt.

The match result was then secured for Windscale, Jeff Smith beating John White 9-6, 10-9, 9-6. This game was a close run thing that could have gone either way, but the Windscale man's determination and concentration was unshakeable.

Dave Fanthorp a recent Keswick recruit from Cockermouth and fit enough to run a marathon was looking for a long drawn out game. Dave Jackman was having none of it. A combination of sky high lob serves, dinky drops and definitely no rallies secured the result for ' Jacko' 9-7, 9-0, 9-3.

Ian Crighton looked like pulling one back for Keswick, but didn't reckon on the youthful exuberance and sheer persistence of John 'Bermuda' Banks.

A product of the clubs youth policy and only just promoted to the number 1 slot, John secured the 'whitewash' winning 5-9, 9-5, 9-2, 9-8.
