We have a healthy junior group, which is reflected in the success of a number of our young juniors. The junior coaching was suspended for a period of time but thanks to Linda, Jake and a number of volunteers it is up and running again. A few more new faces are starting to come along, but we still need to try and encourage more under 11's, as there is a shortage of both boys and girls. We may need to look at advertising either by posters in the club and beyond, or in the B.N.F.L. newsletter.

We now run an under 11 mixed junior team, which consists of Adam Telfer, Hannah Crichton, Jessica Winder, Ryan Doran and Courtney Musson. The team have travelled to two other clubs representing Windscale squash club, and on both occasions they won their matches, with enthusiasm and enjoyment.

As a spin off to this, two of our under 11's were selected to represent the county in the Cheshire Under 11 Inter-Counties Championship at Manchester. This was the first time Cumbria had entered this competition. They played four matches, winning one, drawing one, and losing two, thereby coming 11^th out of 12 in the competition. The two players from our club were Adam Telfer and Hannah Crichton.

We are now receiving all information via Liz Jackson and the county junior squash committee, which is keeping us up to date with all junior competitions and county training in which most of our juniors are taking part.

Results for Liam Barratt are not to hand, but he has competed nationwide, and is continuing to show marked improvement with each competition in what is a very tough national age group.

Nathanial Crichton, Michael Hetherington and Liam Barratt have all played regularly for the senior teams this season.

Tessa Barratt is still training hard, and hopefully will progress into the ladies team this coming season.

As can be seen from the team photo, all the junior members and the two coaches have been provided with the new club team tracksuits and t-shirts. Now when the team go to represent our club people know who they are and to which club they belong.

I would once again like to thank all those involved in getting the juniors up and running, as at one point I thought we were hitting our heads against a brick wall, and getting nowhere fast. It has taken twelve months of sheer determination not to let the juniors fold, and it now appears that our perseverance is starting to pay off. These juniors are the future lifeblood of this club for the years to come and must be encouraged.

With the current set up we now have, hopefully the juniors will continue to expand and provide the club with success on a local, county, and hopefully national level.
