Competing in the Women's O40 squash masters Linda Winder did her home club Windscales proud getting into the final only to be beaten by Carol Page. Getting to the final Linda had to endure a ferocious, should we say, battle with Fran Wallis.

In the battle for the tee Linder drove her opponent into the back corners Fran desperately trying reverse angles from so deep was bound to hit Linda with the ball which she did on several occasions. I didn't see it but heard about it. Words were exchanged. Staying focused and digging deep Linda's victory 3/9  9/4  1/9  9/4  9/1 will go some considerable way for claiming her first England cap. This would be just reward for the way Linda has set about getting to the top of her game at an age when others might be thinking of retiring.
