Carlisle Open Championships 2007

At this weekends Carlisle Open Championships, Windscale walked away with a hand-full of trophies. With representation at all age-groups from under 11 boys and girls, right through to under 17 Boys, our players showed skill and determination over the two days to win the following silverware.

At under 11 boys, Jackson Holliday lost out in the final to James Wolstencroft 3-0. In the girls under 11, in the main final Jessica Winder beat her old adversary Katie Penrice, after a difficult opener, 3-1. Both the finalists in the plate were from Windscales and it was Megan Singleton who overcame Sarah Sim, in a close, but long match 3-1.

At under 13 boys, Hugh Guise a relative beginner compared to his opposition, won the plate final with a walkover, following his opponents withdrawal. Our under 13 girls won the main, and plate competitions. Hannah Crichton swept all before her to beat Emma Carruthers in the final 3-0, and Courtney Musson won the plate, overcoming Abbie Hetherington also 3-0.

At under 17 boys, Liam Barrett produced enough of his best to beat Philip Glencross 3-0, to wind up the weekends activities.

Other participants from Windscale were Adam Telfer and Owen Barrett.
