Cumbria v North Wales
Ross playing team number 1, played Daniel Kamel in his first match and although losing 0-3, played some good squash improving as each game passed 3/11, 5/11, 7/11.
Brandon at team number 3 playing his first ever County game, played John Kamel and set off well taking the opening couple of games 11/3, 11/6, but then lost the next two both 7/11, to see the tie levelled, he dug in though taking the 5th game 11/5, for a great 3-2 win.
Cumbria v Lancashire
Ross's second match was against Carlton Oldham from Lancashire, a seasoned national event competitor, and it was Ross who took the opening game with some great play 12/10. Carlton raised his game from then on and the younger and less experienced Ross lost the next three games 8/11, 7/11, 4/11 tiring slightly, but gave Carlton the 'hurry up' along the way.
Brandon, buoyed with success from his earlier game played Adam Ford next and was brought back to earth with a bump, Adam winning in three straight games, 11/7, 11/1, 11/6.
Cumbria v Durham & Cleveland
In his third match of the day, Ross played another strong player in Durham & Clevelands Michael Graham, and despite getting into the games couldn't force the pace or take control, losing 0-3, 6/11, 3/11, 5/11.
Brandon was determined in his final match of the day to turn his afternoon around and against Ben Cass took the first two games 11/8, 11/7, but as in the morning match he let his opponent back into the tie losing the next two games 4/11, 5/11. Alas for Brandon his opponent had a 'head of steam up', and it was Ben who took a tight 5th game 11/9, to consign Brandon to a tight 2/3 defeat.
Bruce Kemp, Team manager was delighted with his teams efforts over three tough games and said " Ross, you led from the front and had the hardest matches of all, you deserve to be County under 13 number 1", and of Brandon's efforts, "your first County weekend and you were a credit to the team......it certainly won't be your last".
